H4C at Marmalade 2024

Hope4Creation is pleased to be offering a free version of our workshop as part of Marmalade Festival 2024. This is a great opportunity for people of faith to gain knowledge, resources and support for turning their environmental intentions into eco-actions. Come along to Fusion Arts on Gloucester Green, Oxford OX1 2BU on Thursday 11th April to meet us and get inspired. Advance registration is essential - click here to book.

Do you feel inspired by your faith to act against the climate crisis, but feel unsure where to start? We know the environmental crisis can feel overwhelming and detached from our own places and practices of worship. We know it can be difficult to find the hope and motivation needed to turn concern into real-life practices.

As the UK’s premier interfaith climate charity, we want to make meaningful action, which is authentic to every tradition and context, accessible to all people of faith. Whether you are a Christian, Muslim, Jew, Buddhist or Hindu, or belong to any other faith, we are here to support you in integrating your sustainable values into the collective life of your faith community, and our Inspiring Hope for Creation workshop at Marmalade Festival is an ideal place to start.

In this interactive workshop, Hope4Creation founder Rev Canon Dr Charlotte Bannister-Parker and the H4C Team will facilitate a transition from hope to action on climate change for community leaders of any faith. Using a combination of Celtic eco-theology, scriptural reasoning and the neuroscience science of behavioural change, based on research for Bannister-Parker's PhD and the work and insights of the Climate Action Unit of University College, London, this workshop seeks to unlock fear and inertia to help individuals, congregations and faith groups to embrace eco-action and embed it in their worship, witness and daily life.

Participants will have the opportunity to work together to find ways to integrate their values and beliefs into the collective life of their faith communities and to share stories from their own faith-based climate action journeys. They will come away with practical tools for inspiring environmental action in their communities, as well as new additions to their network of interfaith eco-activists.

Marmalade is a week-long festival in Oxford that takes place alongside the Skoll World Forum. In addition to Hope4Creation, dozens of other local and national groups will provide workshops, talks, performances and more, all with a focus on social and environmental action. You can see the full line-up and find out more at https://www.marmalade.io/ - we look forward to meeting you there!
